The Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a meeting to discuss the consolidation of the Ethiopian National Committee on International Humanitarian Law. This meeting was held today in the ministry and was chaired by Ambassador Reta Alemu**, Director General of International Legal Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Members of the Committee, including representatives of the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Peace, the Ministry of Justice, the Federal Police, the Federal Courts, the Ministry of Health, the Ethiopian Red Cross Society, and other relevant institutions, participated in the meeting. reunion.
During the session, participants exchanged views on the organization, operational procedures and stakeholder responsibilities. The National Committee on International Humanitarian Law in Ethiopia aims to create a framework for the effective implementation and application of international humanitarian law in the national jurisdiction and within the institutions concerned.
This National Committee is also called upon to showcase and strengthen Ethiopia’s ongoing efforts to promote and ensure respect for international humanitarian law.
