🇰🇪Kenya Set to Join the League of Oil Exporters
Kenya 🇰🇪 is on the path to becoming an oil-exporting nation, with crude oil expected to be sourced from South Lokichar in Turkana County.
The Lokichar–Lamu pipeline (about 825 km) is under development, aiming to transport up to 80,000 barrels per day, with kickoff projected in 2025–2026
Kenya has produced and exported crude oil through Mombasa via an early pilot scheme, but large-scale exports aren’t yet underway
This move marks a major step in Kenya’s energy sector—but it also raises important questions around environmental impact, transparency, and how the benefits will be shared with local communities
